What We Believe

Beliefs

What we believe at Good shepherd Anglican Church about Jesus, the Bible, the Church, and You

Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is at the center of everything. We believe that Jesus is the only one who can reconcile us to God. He lived a sinless and exemplary life, died on the cross in our place, and rose again to prove His victory and empower us for life. We believe that Jesus Christ is coming back again as He promised.

The Trinity

We believe in one eternal God who is the Creator of all things. He exists in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. He is totally loving and completely holy.

The Bible

We believe that the Bible is God’s Word. It is accurate, authoritative, and applicable to our everyday lives.

The Separation

We believe that sin has separated each of us from God and His purpose for our lives.

Reconciliation

We believe that in order to receive forgiveness and a fresh start with God, we must repent of our sins, believe in Jesus, and commit to His will for our lives.

The Church

We believe in the power and significance of the Church and the necessity of believers to meet regularly together.

You

We believe you are a person of value, created in the image of God, with a special place in your heart for a satisfying relationship with Him. God loves you with an unconditional love so great and profound that it cannot be measured. His love for you is perfect and therefore can never be increased or improved. He has demonstrated His love for by sending His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, into the world for you. Jesus the Son wants to bring God's love into your every day, every breath life.

MORE ABOUT OUR BELIEFS

As Anglicans we hold to the 39 Articles of Religion found in the 1662 Anglican (Church of England) Book of Common Prayer. Further we value the orders of service for worship and other guides found in the Prayer Book as being most helpful in our journey of faith. We subscribe to the Anglican Jerusalem Declaration.

In short we believe:

We believe that the Bible is God’s Word. It is His message to every individual.

The Bible teaches us that we all have sinned and need God’s forgiveness.

It reveals that God gives forgiveness and new life to everyone who accepts His Son Jesus as their personal Savior.

We believe that God cares about every one of our problems and that through Christ’s sacrifice and in answer to our believing prayer He may provide spiritual, emotional, and physical answers to whatever we face.

We believe that it is God’s plan for every Christian to experience the workings and gifts of the Holy Spirit.

We believe that Jesus is literally coming again for those who trust and serve Him.

THE ANGLICAN WAY

The Church of the Good Shepherd enjoys its place in historic Christianity through its part in the Anglican Diocese of the Living Word, a diocese within the Anglican Church of North America (A.C.N.A.). The ACNA, like the Church of England and others is a province within the worldwide Anglican Communion.
